Shared folders are a very useful feature for publishing a large number of files. They enable you to easily offer multiple files for download, accompanied by a custom comment: the folder’s name.
In this tutorial you’ll learn how to create and fill shared folders.
We’ll start off by creating a new folder.
Log in and click “home” on the top menu to list your folders. Now click “Create a Folder” just like on the image below:

Great! Now name your new folder and click “Create”:

Select your new folder by clicking on it’s name (clicking on folder’s name selects it, clicking on the folder icon opens the folder):

Several options appeared on the left hand menu, click on “Share Settings”:

Folders are not shared by default, click on the “Share Folder” button to turn sharing on:

Did you notice the link below the button? That’s the access link you give to other people, similar to individual files, but accessing this link lists folder’s content. You might want to open the link in new window now:

Now get back to your control panel and click on “home” on the top menu to list the folders.
Shared folders serve little purpose empty, let’s add some files to it. I’ll assume you have some files already uploaded so just access your “Uploaded Files” folder, you can click the folder icon this time as we need to view the content:

Fantastic, now click on a file’s name to select it (again, clicking on file names selects the files, clicking on the tiny file icon jumps to file edit). You noticed the extra options on the left again, click on “Move File”:

Select your newly created shared folder from the drop down list and click the “Move” button:

Fantastic! If you opened a new window or a tab during folder sharing, focus it and refresh the page (F5) to view your sahred folder!

That wasn’t so hard, was it? ![]()
Shared folders allow you to regenerate links just like normal files (the public access link changes but your folder and contents remain intact). You can turn off or on folder sharing as you wish on any folder you have, except on “Uploaded Files”, that one is always private.
I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial, thank you for using FileBuffer!
